About The School
Grovedale West Primary School is school is situated in the growing
residential area of Grovedale and Waurn Ponds. The school is
approximately 10 minutes from the Geelong City Centre and 15 minutes from
the coastal townships of Torquay and Barwon Heads. The school is
conveniently situated approximately one kilometre from the Surf Coast
Highway enabling parents from the coast to drop their children at school
on the way to and from work. The school is also situated near a number of
excellent Day care Facilities, Pre-Schools, Secondary Schools and Deakin
University.
Grovedale West Primary school is fortunate to be situated in spacious
grounds surrounded by native trees, large expanses of grass and sporting
ovals. Students also have the opportunity to play in passive garden areas
or in well equipped playgrounds.
Large classrooms have been strategically created to ensure that
students have flexible and spacious learning areas. Our students also
enjoy the opportunity to work and learn within a well resourced and up to
date Multi Media Centre, Art Room, Science Centre and well equipped
Gymnasium. All classrooms are air conditioned, have new electronic
interactive whiteboards and have access to the use of laptops
computers.
Grovedale West Primary school also provides a Deaf Facility for deaf students. The excellent facilities and highly
experienced teachers ensure that the students learn within the regular
classroom environment benefiting from personalised learning programs
developed for each of them.
All students at the school learn AUSLAN signing techniques as part of
their LOTE program.
The school has an enrolment of 240 students, which enables all staff
to really know and care for each child.
All teachers have been provided with Anaphylaxis training and we are a
‘nut free’ school.
The school’s commitment to ensuring that all students’ needs are
identified and addressed is evident through the time and care that
teachers take in developing personalised learning plans and goals for
each student and ensuring ongoing communication with parents.
